2泊3日のムサンゼ旅 / Trip to Musanze for 3days

もう日本でも仕事始まりなんてとっくに始まってるんでしょうね。

学校も始まってるんでしょうね。皆さん、お疲れ様です。

私は只今明日に終わってしまうクリスマス休暇を全力で楽しんでいます。

I am pretty sure that school and the work has been started in Japan. Please take care always. I am now enjoying Christmas holiday ending tomorrow.

そんなクリスマス休暇なんですけど、実はまたまた旅行に行っていまして。

今度はムサンゼというルワンダの北の方に行ってきました。

I went on a trip to Musanze, the north part of Rwanda during this holiday.

さて、ここで質問なのですが皆さんルワンダといえば何を思い浮かべるでしょうか。

コーヒー、IT化、ジェノサイドetc...

色々あると思うけれども。ムサンゼってねあのゴリラが有名なんですよ。ルワンダの観光資源。ルワンダといえば！

ひょっとしたらホテルルワンダの映画なんか見た人は冒頭部分でミルコリンのオーナーが「最近はもっぱらゴリラツアーの客でいっぱいだよ」的なことを言ってたのをおぼえている人もいるのではないでしょうか。

Well, here I would like to give you one question. What will you imagine when you talk about Rwanda? I know there are a lot. And, yeah, Musanze is actually famous for GORILLA. One of the most famous sightseeing spots in Rwanda. Maybe some of you who watched Hotel Rwanda, might remember that the owner of Mille Collines said "these days many of the guests are coming here for gollira" at the very beggining of the film.

まあ、ゴリラ見てないけどね

Well, for me actually I did not join the gorilla tour though.

ムサンゼ旅は美味しいものを追求して、一緒に行動していた日本人2人と語り語り語りまくった旅でございました。

This 3days of trip to Musanze was a trip to have delicous meals and to talk much with two other Japanese friends, who are also studying in Rwanda.

ムサンゼはまたフイエやキガリとは違って在住外国人っぽい人は少なかったです。

が、おそらくゴリラ目当ての外国人（ヨーロッパ系が主）はめちゃくちゃいました。

オシャレなカフェやレストランも確実に観光客目当てで作られたものなんだろうな、って感じ。

There are less foreign residents in Musanze than in Huye or Kigali. But there were many tourists (mainly European) who were probably coming for the gorilla tour. Fashionable restaurants and cafe which we visited was, I think, made for such tourists.

特に国立公園行くとか、これといった観光はしていないので、1つ1つ紹介していこうと思います。

We mainly enjoyed cafe and restaurants there, so I would like to share where we visited one by one.

① La Paillotte

ムサンゼの町中にあるピザ屋さん？なのかパン屋さん？なのか。とりあえず超絶美味しいレストラン。私はカルボナーラを頼みました。うまかった…！

Is this pizza shop or bakery..? I do not know. But anyways. We had a wonderful dinner. I ordered carbonara. IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME.

ルワンダンな街を歩いていると突然雰囲気が明らかに違う外観の建物がぽっと目に飛び込んできます。街のど真ん中にあったよ。

You can find this restaurant in the center of the town. The automosphere was totally different from other shops.

メニューも豊富でパスタもあれば肉料理もあれば魚料理もあるし、なんだったらインド風のご飯があった。fish masala。やっぱりスパイスは世界を救う。素晴らしいよ。

There were many kinds of dish to choose. There were pasta, meat,fish..etc I even could find the dish with spices...  like fish masala..

あと、ここはパンも美味しくて、ルワンダにいくとどこにでも売ってるようなチャパティやアマンダ―ジ(ルワンダ版サーターアンダギー)は勿論なんだけれども、チョコクロワッサンとかおいしそうなクッキーとか色々売ってた・・・！

レジカウンターでよだれが止まらん。

Bread here was also fantastic. You can find of course, chapati or amandazi and you also can find good croissant with chocolate and cookies.. haaaa 

② Migano Cafe

街から5分くらい？歩いた場所にあったカフェ。もうここも最高だった。

ここではお昼ごはんを頂いたんだけれども。

This is the cafe, which is located around five minutes by walk from the town. This cafe was also beyond expression. We had lunch there. 

こんな感じ。私が頼んだのはチキンカツの中身に野菜が詰め込んであるやつ。（説明下手かて）

Like this. This is what I ordered, a chicken cutlet stuffed with vegetable.

その前にシェイクを頼んだんですけれども。

手前が私が頼んだブラウニーシェイク。奥が一緒に行った友達が頼んだピーナッツバターシェイク。まさかここルワンダでメイソンジャーをお目にかかることができるだなんて…！ちなみにピーナッツバターは美味しかったですが重かったそうです。

Before having lunch, I and my friend had shakes. I had a brownie shake(in front), my friend had a peanut butter shake(at the back). I did not expect that I could have a drink in such a cute cup. By the way, peanut butter shake was good but too sweet, according to my friend. lol

雰囲気もオシャレで、ここもパンが美味しかった。クロワッサン。あとチョコレートも売ってたよ。

The automosphere was wonderful. Here also we could have delicious bread. Especially croissant. Chocolate bar there was also great.

③ Cafe CREMA

②のカフェからさらに5分程度メインロード沿いに歩いたところにあったカフェ。

クラフトショップも併設。(日曜日しまってたけど)

This is the cafe which is located around five minutes by walk from migano cafe.

This cafe has a craft shop.(It was actually closed on Sunday.TT)

私はチャイとクッキーを頼みました。うまかった。

あと、アイスクリームのスタンドもあるよ。

I had Chai and a cookie there. Both was super. And you can find ice cream shop inside the cafe.

そして何が好きってここの壁。

What I like most about this cafe is that

FILTER COFFEE NOT PEOPLE

シビれる。ええやん。

居心地が良すぎてたぶん2時間以上居座った。わろわろ。

 is this wall. Cool. Great.

We stayed for over two hours actually. lol

いや～、ほんとにリラックスできたいい旅だった。んだけど引っかかることがひとつ。

本当にマイノリティであること、そして自分は「外国人」でしかないことを実感もさせられました。いつも以上に。

Yeah, I could be really relaxed through this trip. However, there is one thing I cannot igore. Through these three days, I strongly felt that "I belong to minority group in this country" and "I am a foreigner", much more than usual.

やっぱり在住外国人より旅行者の方が多いせいなのか、フイエよりも外国人、というかヨーロッパ系やアジア系の一目で外国人とわかる人は多くなかったです。

There were not many people who are from outside Africa such as Europe and Asia, as there are more tourists than foreign residents.

そのせいなのか。

I do not know whether that is because or not.

街を歩いていると嫌な言葉を何度かけられたことか。

主に子どもに。たまに大人に。

中国語を真似た喋り方でアジア人を馬鹿にしてきたり。中指さえ立ててきた子も。

How many times did I hear harsh words there, mainly from kids sometimes from adults.

They made fun of me and my friends by imitating Chinese accents. There also was a child who stand his middle finger up.

ルワンダに来て3か月以上がたって。そんな風に言われたりするのは正直慣れてきていたけれど、相変わらず腹が立つなあって。

最初は流せていたものもどんどん苛立ちに変わるようになりました。

Still I get furious when I hear discriminative expression while I am getting used to these things. Even though more than three months has passed since I arrived in Rwanda.

When I just arrived here, I could just ignore, but these days, I started to feel really bad about it.

なんでそんなこと言うんだろうね～って思うとともに、そういう扱いを受けるたびに思い出すことがあります。日本でのこと。

Many times when someone says such things, I remember one thing I saw in Japan, 

あれは私が高校2年生。通っていた高校は国際空港のすぐそばで、外国人がやや多めの地域を通って登下校していました。涼しくなってきた秋のことだったと思う。

That was when I was a 2nd grader student. My highschool is very close to International airport, so I think that is why there are bit many foreigners around my high school.

駅に向かって歩いていると、反対方向からアフリカ系と見受けられる人がひとり歩いてきていました。その後ろには下校途中と思われる小学生たちが。やっぱ外国人がやや多めとはいえ大阪の田舎、どうしても目立ってしまいます。

When I was walking back to the trarin station from my high school, one guy who seemed to be African was walking from the other side. Some elementary school children walking behind him. While there are many foreiners in the town, the town is, in fact, the countryside of Osaka. So it was very easy for him to be outstanding.

「ボブ・サップや！！」

"Bob Sapp!" 

って言いながら小学生たちは騒いでいました。

周りには私、その男性、小学生以外には誰もいませんでした。恐らくその男性のことを指して言ってたんでしょう。まあ、たぶん彼らには悪気はなかったんだと思うけど、見たものを見たままに言っただけ。

Elementary school children said. Loudly. Very loudly. Around there, there were only me, that guy and the children, I think they did not mean to offense him, just said what they saw.

私はその男性と話したわけでもないから男性がどう思っていたかなんてわからないけどいい思いはしてないんじゃないかな、って。

I do not know how that guy actually felt, because I did not talk with him. But I could imagine he felt somehow not good.

いや実際きっと面白いんよね。肌の色も顔立ちも体形も全然違えば。特に子どもには。

だからと言って相手が嫌がることを言っていいって正当化されるわけではないんだけれども。

Probably, for kids, it might be fun to see "different things" Skin color, face or figure..

Yes, of course, these differences never justify to say harsh words.

年齢を重ねたり、たくさんのことを学ぶにつれて世界が広がると今までの自分自身の常識が覆されたり、いろんな考えや人に出会う機会が増えると思います。

それこそ私も小さい頃は外国人＝英語を話す人だと思っていました。

As getting elder, as learing more, I think we are getting new insights and new perspectives. We also can meet many people with many diffrent ways of thinkings.

もちろんこればっかりが解決するわけではないけれど、学び、視野を広げることがひとつ「違い」をリスペクトするきっかけにでもなるのかな、なんて思ったりもしました。でもほんと、難しいね。

It is complex and difficult. But I think to broaden sights and learn more can let people respect such differences. That could be one thing to contribute to this issue... maybe.
